"A pleasant and fair town for everybody."
I grew up in the archipelago of Southwest Finland and on the Åland island. I am married to my husband Kurt, and together we have two grown daughters and a dussin grand-children. We became residents of Pargas thanks to me at fifteen getting a job as hostess at Parteks guesthouse.
After this, I became a vocational teacher at a culinaryschool. During these fifteen years of teaching, I got the opportunity to develop both the education and the educational spaces. Though I found these years rewarding, I took on a new challenge when Pargas looked for a new dietitian.
During the ten years I worked as the city’s dietitian. At this time, the challenges were plenty, the ergonomics in most kitchens needed improvements, at the same time as new kitchens needed to be built in Nilsby school and at the main campus. After the merger of municipalities, I got the opportunity to get acquainted with the nice archipelago logistics, and improve the kitchen ergonomics in Houtskär until I retired.
To me, cooperation across borders means that we are open to listening to each other. In our municipality, we have a lot of employees with great ideas. I would like to see more development talks between politicians and managers with those who do the work every day. By discussing and planning, we can come up with great solutions.
