"We have to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to stop climate change. We must do more to prevent bullying in our schools. We need to broaden and diversify the cultural sector in Espoo, e.g. by promoting multiculturalism. Espoo needs a good business climate to spur domestic an international investments. "
I am a retired lawyer living with my wife Susanne in a detached house in Etelä-Leppävaara (Södra Alberga). As owner of an old house with a large yard and garden I busy myself with renovation works and gardening when I am not enjoying myself at our summer cottage in Raseborg. To my leisure activities belong outdoor activities like picking mushrooms and berries, hunting, fishing and skiing. During my whole adult life I have been volunteering in various associations. Being in close contact with my four children and twelve grandchildren gives me an opportunity to keep myself updated on what is happening in todays workplaces and schools.
My career consists of working with trade and industry policy issues in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Confederation of Finnish Industries, the Representation of Finnish Industries in Brussels, the valve producer Neles Oy, the Finnish EU Representation in Brussels, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. I have always been interested in politics, formerly mostly international politics, but nowadays also in national and local politics. As I'm not a member of the Swedish People´s Party, I put up as an independent candidate. But my political views come close to the social liberal policies of the Party.
A pioneer in climate and the environment
We must beat the climate crisis. As a modern and relatively wealthy city Espoo has good possibilities to be a pioneer when it comes to effectively reducing carbon dioxid emissions.
Well-run economy and business
In order to be able to cope with all the economic challenges that the City of Espoo is exposed to we need economic growth, which only can be reached by growth in the private sector. Therefore we have to create a business climate that favours both small and large companies, and is interesting for national and international investors.
Young people's well-being
We should create more indoor and outdoor places especially planned for young people's leisure activities. We have to do more to stop bullying in our schools. The teachers should be given due education, responsibilities and powers in order to be able to put an end to bullying.
